Product details.

α-Amylase is a reagent kit for the quantitative estimation of α-amylase in serum, by a kinetic method using the blocked chromogenic substrate GAL-G2-CNP. α-Amylase breaks the substrate down to release 2-chloro-4-nitrophenol (CNP), measured at 405 nm in proportion to α-amylase activity. Manufactured at Reckon’s Vadodara facility under ISO 13485:2016 quality management, and released against reference standards before dispatch.

The specifications and steps on this page are from the datasheet, last updated 04-2023. The datasheet governs: read it before use, or ask us.

Procedure at a glance5 steps
  1. Reconstitute 1 substrate tablet with 1.1 ml of buffer, mix gently until dissolved, and wait 5 minutes.
  2. Add 0.05 ml of sample to 1.0 ml of working reagent and mix immediately.
  3. Read the absorbance at 405 nm at exactly 60 seconds, then 3 more times at 30-second intervals, at 37 °C.
  4. Work out the mean change in absorbance per minute (ΔA/min).
  5. Amylase (IU/L) = ΔA/min × 1628.
