Product details.
Magnesium-L (R1-R2) is a reagent for the in vitro quantitative determination of magnesium in human serum, plasma and urine. In alkaline solution magnesium forms a purple complex with calmagite dye, and a chelating agent and detergent in the reagent remove interference from calcium and proteins. Manufactured at Reckon’s Vadodara facility under ISO 13485:2016 quality management, and released against reference standards before dispatch.
The specifications and steps on this page are from the datasheet, last updated 05-2023. The datasheet governs: read it before use, or ask us.

- Linearity
- Up to 4.5 mg/dl; dilute higher samples with saline
Procedure at a glance5 steps
- Add 0.5 ml of 2 Magnesium (dye) to a vial of 1 Magnesium (alkali).
- Pipette 1.0 ml of working reagent into the blank, standard and sample tubes; add 0.01 ml of standard and of sample to their tubes.
- Mix and stand for 5 minutes.
- Read the standard and the sample at 520 nm against distilled water.
- Magnesium (mg/dl) = absorbance of sample ÷ absorbance of standard × 2; multiply by 0.412 for mmol/L, and by 4 for diluted urine.
