SGPT (DST) is a reagent kit for the quantitative estimation of glutamate pyruvate transaminase (ALT) activity in serum or plasma, by the kinetic procedure recommended by the IFCC. ALT forms pyruvate from L-alanine and α-ketoglutarate; lactate dehydrogenase reduces it while oxidising NADH, and the fall in absorbance at 340 nm is proportional to ALT activity. Manufactured at Reckon’s Vadodara facility under ISO 13485:2016 quality management, and released against reference standards before dispatch.

Procedure at a glance5 steps

Dissolve 1 vial of SGPT powder in its buffer (25 ml or 60 ml) and wait 5 minutes.
Add 0.1 ml of sample to 1.0 ml of working reagent and mix.
After 60 seconds at 37 °C, read the absorbance at 340 nm every 30 seconds for 2 minutes.
Work out the mean change in absorbance per minute (ΔA/min).
