Product details.

SGOT (DST) is a reagent kit for the quantitative estimation of glutamate oxaloacetate transaminase (AST) activity in serum or plasma, by the kinetic procedure recommended by the IFCC. AST forms oxaloacetate from L-aspartate and α-ketoglutarate; malate dehydrogenase reduces it while oxidising NADH, and the fall in absorbance at 340 nm is proportional to AST activity. Manufactured at Reckon’s Vadodara facility under ISO 13485:2016 quality management, and released against reference standards before dispatch.

Procedure at a glance5 steps
  1. Dissolve 1 vial of SGOT powder in its buffer (25 ml or 60 ml) and wait 5 minutes.
  2. Add 0.1 ml of sample to 1.0 ml of working reagent and mix.
  3. After 60 seconds at 37 °C, read the absorbance at 340 nm every 30 seconds for 2 minutes.
  4. Work out the mean change in absorbance per minute (ΔA/min).
  5. SGOT (IU/L) = ΔA/min × 1746.
