Iron (Ferrozine) is a reagent kit for the quantitative estimation of iron in serum. In an acidic medium, transferrin-bound iron is released as ferric ions and reduced by hydroxylamine to ferrous ions, which form a purple complex with ferrozine measured at 560 nm. Manufactured at Reckon’s Vadodara facility under ISO 13485:2016 quality management, and released against reference standards before dispatch.

Procedure at a glance5 steps
- Dissolve 1 vial of 3 Iron (enhancer) in 1 bottle of 1 Iron (buffer) and wait 15 minutes.
- Pipette 1.0 ml of working reagent into the blank, standard, sample-blank and test tubes; add 0.2 ml of distilled water, standard, and sample (to both sample tubes).
- Add 0.05 ml of 2 Iron (colour reagent) to the blank, standard and test tubes, not to the sample blank.
- Stand for 10 minutes at 37 °C and read against the reagent blank at 560 nm.
- Iron (µmol/L) = (test − sample blank) ÷ standard × 80; multiply by 5.585 for µg/dl.
