Product details.
The POCT HCV Card is a rapid chromatographic immunoassay for the qualitative detection of antibodies to HCV core, NS3, NS4 and NS5 proteins in human whole blood, serum or plasma, using the double antigen sandwich principle. It is packed for point-of-care use with a dropper, lancet and alcohol pad for each test. Manufactured at Reckon’s Vadodara facility under ISO 13485:2016 quality management, and released against reference standards before dispatch.

- Method
- Double antigen sandwich, lateral flow
- Detects
- Antibodies to HCV (core, NS3, NS4 and NS5 antigens)
- Sample
- Whole blood (EDTA, heparin or oxalate), serum or plasma; whole blood keeps 72 hours and serum 3 days at 2 to 8 °C; freeze serum at −20 °C beyond that
- Sample volume
- 1 drop (about 30 µl)
- Buffer
- 2 drops (about 60 µl), added straight after the sample
- Read at
- 15 minutes; strong positives may show by 5 minutes; not after 15 minutes
- Limitation
- Shows only the presence or absence of HCV antibody; if negative with persisting symptoms, repeat on a fresh sample
- Contents
- 50 cards, assay buffer, 50 droppers (5 µl), 50 sterile lancets and 50 alcohol pads
- Storage
- 2 to 40 °C in the sealed pouch
- Caution
- Handle specimens as infectious; soak used material in 0.5 to 1% sodium hypochlorite for 1 hour

- Made in
- Vadodara, Gujarat, India
Procedure at a glance5 steps
- Bring the card, specimen and buffer to room temperature, and lay the card flat.
- Add 1 drop (about 30 µl) of whole blood, serum or plasma, then 2 drops (about 60 µl) of buffer straight away, to the sample well without overflowing.
- Read at 15 minutes; strong positives may show within 5 minutes. Do not read after 15 minutes.
- If the result is negative or questionable and HCV is suspected, repeat on a fresh sample.
- C only is negative; C and T is positive for HCV antibody, whatever the line intensities; no C line means the test is invalid.
