Product details.
The HIV 1/2 Triline Card is a solid-phase immunochromatographic assay for the qualitative detection of antibodies to HIV-1 and HIV-2 in human serum or plasma. Recombinant HIV-1 (gp120 + gp41) and HIV-2 (gp36) antigens sit on separate T1 and T2 lines, so the card tells HIV-1, HIV-2 and dual reactivity apart. Manufactured at Reckon’s Vadodara facility under ISO 13485:2016 quality management, and released against reference standards before dispatch.
The specifications and steps on this page are from the datasheet, last updated 07-2025. The datasheet governs: read it before use, or ask us.

- Method
- Chromatographic lateral flow, colloidal gold
- Detects
- Antibodies to HIV-1 (line T1) and HIV-2 (line T2)
- Sample
- Serum or plasma; refrigerate if not tested at once, and freeze beyond 3 days
- Sample volume
- 10 µl
- Buffer
- 2 drops (60 µl), 1 more if needed
- Read at
- 15 to 20 minutes; not after 20 minutes
- Limitation
- A screening test: repeat positives need confirmatory testing; very strong positives can show a hook effect (dilute 5 to 10 times)
- Storage
- 2 to 40 °C in the sealed pouch
- Caution
- Sensitive to humidity and heat: use as soon as the pouch is opened

Performance2 figures
- Agreement
- 99.8% against another commercial kit: 1 discordant result in 376 clinical samples
- Cross-reactivity
- None detected from other antigens, lipemic or icteric samples
Procedure at a glance5 steps
- Bring the card, sample and buffer to room temperature, and lay the card flat.
- Add 10 µl of serum or plasma to the sample well, with the dropper or a micropipette.
- Add 2 drops (60 µl) of assay buffer to the sample well; add 1 more drop if needed.
- Read at 15 to 20 minutes, not later.
- C only is negative; C and T1 is HIV-1 positive; C and T2 is HIV-2 positive; C, T1 and T2 is positive for both. No C line means the test is invalid.
