Product details.
The HCV Card is a rapid chromatographic immunoassay for the qualitative detection of antibodies to hepatitis C virus in human serum or plasma. It uses the double antigen sandwich principle, with recombinant HCV core, NS3, NS4 and NS5 antigens on the test line and a goat anti-mouse IgG control line. Manufactured at Reckon’s Vadodara facility under ISO 13485:2016 quality management, and released against reference standards before dispatch.
The specifications and steps on this page are from the datasheet, last updated 01-2026. The datasheet governs: read it before use, or ask us.

- Method
- Double antigen sandwich, lateral flow
- Detects
- Antibodies to HCV (core, NS3, NS4 and NS5 antigens)
- Sample
- Serum or plasma, tested soon after separation; 3 days at 2 to 8 °C, or frozen at −20 °C beyond that
- Sample volume
- 1 drop (about 30 µl)
- Buffer
- 2 drops (about 60 µl), added straight after the sample
- Read at
- Within 15 minutes; strong positives may show by 5 minutes; not after 20 minutes
- Limitation
- Shows only the presence or absence of HCV antibody; if negative with persisting symptoms, repeat on a fresh sample
- Storage
- 2 to 40 °C in the sealed pouch
- Caution
- Handle specimens as infectious; soak used material in 0.5 to 1% sodium hypochlorite for 1 hour

Procedure at a glance4 steps
- Bring the card and the sample to room temperature, and lay the card flat.
- Add 1 drop (about 30 µl) of serum or plasma, then 2 drops (about 60 µl) of buffer, to the sample well without overflowing.
- Read within 15 minutes; do not read after 20 minutes.
- C only is negative; C and T is positive for HCV antibody, whatever the line intensities; no C line means the test is invalid.
