Product details.
Drabkin's Reagent is a reagent kit for the quantitative estimation of hemoglobin in blood by the cyanmethemoglobin method recommended by the International Committee for Standardization in Hematology. Hemoglobin is oxidised to methemoglobin, which reacts with potassium cyanide to form cyanmethemoglobin, measured at 540 nm. Manufactured at Reckon’s Vadodara facility under ISO 13485:2016 quality management, and released against reference standards before dispatch.
The specifications and steps on this page are from the datasheet, last updated 02-2017. The datasheet governs: read it before use, or ask us.

- Linearity
- Up to 25 g/dl
Procedure at a glance5 steps
- Pipette 5.00 ml of Drabkin's reagent into a test tube.
- Add 0.02 ml of blood and mix by inversion.
- After 3 minutes, read the absorbance against distilled water at 540 nm (520 to 560 nm, or a green filter).
- Read the standard directly, without dilution.
- Hb (g/dl) = absorbance of test ÷ absorbance of standard × 15; on a calibrated spectrophotometer, Hb (g/dl) = absorbance of test × 36.77.
