G-6-PD (Quantitative) is a reagent kit for the quantitative kinetic estimation of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase in erythrocytes. The enzyme, released from lysed red cells, oxidises glucose-6-phosphate while reducing NADP to NADPH, and the rise in absorbance at 340 nm is proportional to G6PD activity; an inhibitor prevents interference from 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase. Manufactured at Reckon’s Vadodara facility under ISO 13485:2016 quality management, and released against reference standards before dispatch.

Procedure at a glance5 steps
- Wash 0.1 ml of whole blood 3 times in 2 ml of 0.9% saline; lyse the packed cells in 0.5 ml of cold lysing reagent, keep at 2 to 4 °C for 15 minutes to 2 hours, and centrifuge at 3000 rpm for 5 minutes.
- Add 1.1 ml of buffer to a substrate vial, mix, and wait 5 minutes.
- Add 0.025 ml of hemolysate to 1.0 ml of working reagent, mix and aspirate.
- After 180 seconds, read the absorbance at 340 nm every minute for 3 minutes and work out ΔA/min.
- G6PD (U/10¹² RBC) = ΔA/min × 36013 ÷ red cell count (millions/mm³); G6PD (U/g Hb) = ΔA/min × 3601 ÷ Hb (g/dl).
