Product details.
The RPR Carbon Antigen Test is a qualitative and semi-quantitative slide flocculation test used to screen for syphilis, detecting reagin (antibodies against lipoidal material released in Treponema pallidum infection) in serum or plasma. Modified cardiolipin coated on carbon particles reacts with reagin in the sample to form black floccules. Manufactured at Reckon’s Vadodara facility under ISO 13485:2016 quality management, and released against reference standards before dispatch.

Procedure at a glance5 steps
- Bring the reagent and samples to room temperature, and lay the clean slide flat.
- Place 1 drop of sample and of each control in separate circles, with the plastic droppers.
- Add 1 drop of RPR carbon reagent to each circle with the needle dropper, without touching the sample.
- Spread each mixture over its circle with a separate stick, and rotate gently by hand or at 100 rpm for 6 minutes.
- Read under a strong light: black floccules or clumps are reactive; a uniform grey suspension is non-reactive.
